Submitting your site to directories effetively

Submiiting your site to different directories is a key step in gaining better ranking among  search engines. Simply submitting a website to any directory does not make a sense in order to achieve desired results. There are hundred of directories available on the net. Submitting to these directories does not require skills but little care can put your business in a better position. Let me explain a bit more to submit your url in a proper manner.

Before submitting a website make sure your website is complete. There should not be pages written under construction and check your site links, broken links may leads to refusal of your website in directory inclusion. There are two types of directories first auto approval of your link and the second manual approval. Auto approval just give a link automatically to your site while the manual approval takes time and review of your website by the directory administration.

Choose right directory

There are plenty of directories available to be consider but try to iclude your listing in a directory which best fit your interest. Common directories have different categories but there are directories which are regional or for specific products so try to choose the directory which is clse to  your interest.

Choose a right category

It is wise to choose the right category of the directory. If you choose the wrong directory, there will be a chance of rejecting by the directory authorities and all your efforts go in vain.

Use different site heading words

Site heading information plays an important role in your keyword popularity in search engines especially in google. Try to use different keywords in your site heading. e.g if your site is about gifts then you can use words gifts, presents, souvenirs etc alternatively. One can include the geographic location too.

Site description

Try to elaborate the site description so one can undertsand that what is site about. The description of the site clearly gives a short message about the website activity.

URL structure

This is also important, it means how you write the url e.g www.yoursite.com, http://www.yoursite.com, http://yoursite.com. If you are choosing any above format then stick to that because different structure means different url in some search engines which ends in saturation.

Follow guidelines of directory

When you are submitting your website to any directory, read the guide line of the directory submission and adhere the guideline points in order to not to be rejected.

Use appropriate keywords

Some directories ask you for keywords, try to write proper keywords which relate to your website so your site will be listed in proper keyword categories.

There must be some other points to consider too but in my mind the above are crucial. Regarding the list of directories, there is a lot but my favourite is dmoz.org because google love it and i really have to impress google…ha ha.
